Art in Room 6

There is nothing better than a colourful and bright classroom that makes learning so much more fun! We have been exploring the effects of dye and pastel and what happens when we mix them. To celebrate our findings we made some pastel/dye art that we have displayed in our classroom. Come and see it!

Reading eggs!

Great to hear that so many children have already been trying out the reading eggs programme. The website and the children's individual user name/passwords are in their home fun books. Have a great weekend and I'll see you all next week refreshed and ready for another exciting week of learning in Room 6.   - Miss J.

Classroom Matrix

In Room 6 we came up with a classroom matrix of things we need to do to support our learning. This is part of the PB4L programme that Reremoana School is a part of. For more information please see our PB4L tab at the top of this page :)
To ensure consistency it would be a great idea to talk about and reinforce some of these things at home too.

Special Visitor for Fun Friday

Fun Friday is a day when we get to have fun experiences to support our learning. Last Friday we had a special visitor in our classroom called Archie. We got to meet him, have some cuddles and then write about what he was like. We learnt how to describe!

We are Room 6

Welcome to our classroom! We are a wonderful, fun and happy bunch of children in the lovely Room 6. So far we have learnt so much already and have been having a blast together. Here we are in front of our writing we published.

Reading Eggs Reminder :-)

It is a requirement  for parents to pay a subscription fee of $30 for each student in the Kiwi Team to have access to the Reading Eggs and Reading Eggspress website.    This programme forms and addition to class literacy programmes.    Classroom teachers will check  lessons that have been done by students, books that they have read exct.   Teachers can also provide the students with reports on their progress with the program.

You will notice that your child are able to access this website even though payments have not been made.  We are requesting for parents to pay this subscription fee before the end of Term 1 2014. If we have not received any payments  by the end of the term,  access on the site will be denied.

Letter to Parents

Dear Parents/Caregivers,

Welcome to the 2015 school year at Reremoana School Room 6. I hope you all had a restful holiday and ready for an exciting year of learning. My name is Amanda Jakubcik and I am your child’s teacher for this year. I moved to Auckland at the beginning of 2009 from Dunedin in the South Island.

Home fun
Each week your child will receive a sheet of home fun. This should take about 10 minutes each night you are welcome to support your child with this. It is a good opportunity for you as a parent to know what we are learning in the classroom. The books that your child brings home each night vary between books that they have read that day or books that they have previously read and are familiar with. Re-reading of known texts is an important reading skill used to strengthen reading proficiency amongst readers of all levels.

Before and after school
To help keep the schooling experience happy and exciting for your child it is important that we keep the goodbyes short and sweet in the morning. When the music goes that is when the schooling programme starts and it is important that the children are settled in by then. After school please wait until children are released from the class before you enter the classroom.

I am confident that your child will have a meaningful and successful year in Room 6 this year.

I look forward to meeting you all as soon as possible.

Amanda Jakubcik
